Image ID: Harry Goodsir as portrayed by Paul Ready in The Terror (2018), a middle-aged white man with curly black hair and pronounced forehead wrinkles. He is drawing as he looks into an old fashioned microscope. A faint burst of light emanates from behind his head. To the left of him are three glowing creatures: Amphipoda, a pink shrimp with lots of legs, Ctenophora, a teal oblong jellyfish, and Cnidaria, a more conventional orange and blue jellyfish. To his right are two more creatures: an Annelida, a kind of worm that has lots of spikes and glows blue, and a Pteropod, a sea angel, semi-transparent and orange in the center. A quote from Henry T. D. Le Vesconte is above Goodsir and reads, “I can admire the zeal of those who labor to disclose the wonderful secrets of nature.” End ID.
Harry D. S. Goodsir
One of my most dearly beloved historical figures & fictional characters combined. I find his letters and how others described him incredibly endearing. I consider him a kind of patron saint to me, my art, and my interests. He was obsessed with the natural world and I endeavor to reach his artistry in the way that he portrayed his love for it. You can read more I've written about him here.
